My F1 trips (cont)

France 2002
In 2002 I went to Magny-Cours in central France.
Although my Mum is a big Grand Prix fan this was her first ever race.
My sister Hannah dislikes Grand Prix but had to come with us as it formed part of are main summer holiday camping in France.
We managed to meet up with a group of friends from Aberystwyth who we met on our F1 Barcelona trip in 2001.
As an Arrows fan I was disappointed that they didn't race due to financial problems, However they did make a short appearance in Qualifying.
Fissi's practice crash happened straight in front of us and I was pleased to see he was O.K.
In Qualifying Juan Pablo Montoya got is 5th pole in a row ahead of the 2 ferrari's.
Rubens Barrichello was left on the jacks at the start of the parade lap and failed to get going before the race started.
At the start of the race it was a battle between Kimi Rakkionen, JP Montoya and Michael Schumacher but Montoya had a bad stop and left Kimi and Michael battling for the lead.
The white line must not be crossed coming out of the pit lane but was crossed by Massa, Both Schumachers and David Coulthard.
Kimi was in the lead until 5 laps to the finish he made a mistake underpressure from Schumacher and Schumi took the lead.
Schumacher crossed the line to win and equal Fangio's amazing record of 5 World Championships.
